HolidayPacker synthesizes personalized packing recommendations through a hybrid architecture combining rule-based deterministic calculations and privacy-preserving Artificial Intelligence (AI) generation:
1. Deterministic Rule Matrices

Computes baseline garment and accessory counts based on trip duration, baggage weight modes, and microclimate formulas (e.g. UV index to sunscreen ratios, rain probability to waterproof layer needs).
2. AI Language Models (OpenRouter)
Zero-PII API
When active, our server proxies anonymized parameters (destination city, duration, travel vibe, baggage constraints, and weather forecast) to AI models to generate tailored, destination-specific item recommendations.

To furnish realistic weather previews (highs, lows, precipitation probabilities, UV indices, and coastal sea temperatures), HolidayPacker directly interfaces with the privacy-focused Open-Meteo meteorological platform.

We utilize Open-Meteo (EU-based, Germany) for destination geocoding, multi-day weather forecasts, and coastal sea temperature data. Open-Meteo operates under strict GDPR compliance, requires zero user authentication cookies, and does not retain IP addresses or track visitor habits.
OpenRouter AI Services
AI Language Model
To generate intelligent, climate-aware packing advice, anonymized trip parameters are processed via OpenRouter API (utilizing OpenAI models). No personal identifiable information (PII) is provided to the model, and queries are subject to zero-data-retention for training purposes.
Google Analytics (GA4)

We utilize Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC) to collect aggregated statistical measurements regarding web traffic patterns, popular destination searches, and platform stability. IP addresses are anonymized automatically by default, and analytical telemetry is strictly segregated from your personal packing checklists.
Amazon Services LLC Associates Program
Affiliate Network
We participate in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. When you click an external link to purchase recommended packing cubes, sunscreen, or adapters, an affiliate tag informs the merchant of the referral. This process generates zero personal profile linkage on our platform and adds no supplementary fees to your purchase.
